If you are visiting Orange County during July or August, then be sure to check out the fun, food and exciting entertainment at the Orange County Fair.
The OC Fair dates are from July 12 – August 11, 2019. The Fair is visited every year by over 1.4 Million locals and boasts some of the best attractions in the country.
Celebrating 130 Years
After Orange County was founded in 1889, the Orange County Community Fair Corporation formed soon after. The first small Fair in 1890 included a horse race and a few exhibits in Santa Ana.
Around 1900, a ‘carnival of products’ was added, and the Fair became an annual event. The Fair was held in Santa Ana until after World War I when it was moved to Huntington Beach for two years.
The Fair was first held at the new site in 1949, and it became designated as the permanent Fairgrounds. In 1953, when the City of Costa Mesa incorporated the fairgrounds officially became part of the new city.
Today, the Orange County Fair is the 9th-largest Fair in the United States.
Over 130 years, the OC Fair has grown from a small, five-day celebration to a 23-day festival that is one of Orange County’s most exciting annual events.
Tempt Your Tastebuds
Any local fair is known for sharing some of the culinary delights of the area. From delicious handmade healthy delicacies to heart-stopping, deep-friend, once-a-year-only temptations, the OC Fair food choices are sure to please all. Let go of calorie counting for one day and enjoy everything that is on offer.
Another new feature this year is the savings menus offered by most vendors. Budget-friendly options include menu items from $7.19, $8.19, and $9.19.
On Thursdays from 12 pm to 4 pm, you can even get a sample of the food and treats for only $3 each. Fun-sized samples include funnel cake, tri-tip, cinnamon rolls, tacos, gelato, cotton candy, lemonade, and more.
Attractions & Events
Each year, headlining acts play their hits under the stars at the Pacific Amphitheatre, and daily local entertainment and tribute bands are featured Wednesday to Saturday nights, with special guests on Sunday nights.
For those seeking thrills, there are also derbies, rodeos, monster trucks, and more.
If you want to experience some of the park rides, buy your FunPass early to get more tickets for all the rides and games you can handle. Wondering how to beat and win at the OC Fair games? It all comes down to strategy and a little luck!
From games consisting of shooting a basketball into a hoop to win a big prize, ring toss, who can squirt a water gun at a target the quickest, and so much more. According to OC Fair themselves, the OC Fair “boasts 68 rides and 58 games, giving fairgoers tons of summertime fun.” Even we can’t wait to get down there and play our hearts out!
And when you need a break from the entertainment, check out the best deals in the Carnival of Products, and shop Crafters Village to support local OC artisans.
