The Orange County Swapmeet, (now officially known as the Orange County Marketplace) is one of Southern California’s largest and best outdoor shopping experiences that happens every Saturday and Sunday of the month. The OC Marketplace draws in a staggering 2 million people each year and that’s not just because this swap meet has cheap entry and cool things to purchase.
The OC Marketplace is chock full of all-day family fun including nearly 1,000 vendors supplying delicious food and drinks, cool merchandise, and stunning arts and crafts. There are also live bands, special events on holidays, a friendly atmosphere, and more things to buy than you can shake a stick at.
Need a haircut? There are full-service hair salons on site. Need some quality meats and are looking for a butcher? They have it. How about some antiques? One area of the fairgrounds is titled “Behind the Picket Fence,” and is dedicated to repurposed or vintage items. So it’s safe to say that there is truly something for everyone at this venue.
Since this flea market is a family-friendly, there is a conveniently placed kid’s play area conveniently located in case the little ones are becoming a handful and need to expend some energy (so you can preserve yours.) Keep in mind that this venue is outdoors, so it’s recommended to bring sunscreen, a hat, and walking shoes. Be sure to check the weather that morning to best prepare your outfit. There are also plenty of snack and drinks vendors available to keep you hydrated and energized all day.
Be sure to check out the vendor directory and a map of the OC Marketplace to know where you are at all times. The fairgrounds is a giant place with lots of vendors, so make sure to pace yourself! Walk around to see what kinds of vendors you might like to purchase from and then make a list to come back to. It’s easier to have a strategy after knowing what’s available for purchase.
“A kaleidoscope of people, cultures, sight, and sounds, the Orange County Market Place is a day of adventure and festivities for all who pass through its gates. Each weekend, merchants offer an eclectic range of merchandise and services; original artwork, embroidery, automobiles, fresh fruits and vegetables, bread, clothes, barbecues, spas, home decor, and even on-site haircuts” – OC Market Place Site.
