Whether you’re traveling for work, leisure, or your child’s soccer game, Orange County Great Park is a must-see for any OC visitor.
The Orange County Great Park, located on a section of the former Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, is still a diamond in the rough as it grows to over 1,300 acres. The City of Irvine-owned Great park is an art and sports recreational hub, with 688 acres of parkland currently under development.
The completion of a 194-acre Sports Complex brings public amenities for soccer, tennis, volleyball, basketball, softball, and more open to the public. Additionally, the 270,000 square-foot Great Park Ice & FivePoint Arena was officially completed in 2018. Look for more expansion to come with public-private partner FivePoint opening its adjacent private land with new homes. We hope this will ensure that Great Park continues to function as a hub of agriculture, arts, attractions, and more in Orange County.

1. Great Park Balloon
The Great Park Balloon ride might as well be the parks claim to fame. Opening on July 14, 2007, the balloon ride — designed by Aerophile SA—was the first attraction to open in the park. It carries visitors to a height of 500 feet (150 m) for a one of a kind panoramic view of the county.
Amazingly. The balloon’s gondola can fit 25–30 people, making it the perfect outing for a class of students.
2. Great Park Trails
The Great Park Trails feature 1.5 miles of walking and biking space throughout the Upper Bee and Bosque are. This includes 53 acres of natural landscape, lighted pedestrian and bicycle trails, trailside shaded benches, connections to neighboring streets, and more.
Looking to unwind after a long business meeting and travel? Great Park Trails are the perfect escape!

According to the City of Irvine, repurposed military structures now form a cultural campus supporting the development of a fresh approach to establishing an interdisciplinary, public art program.
As an added bonus, the Marine Corps Air Station El Toro’s World War II-era architecture has been preserved by means of adaptive reuse of existing buildings, a strategy that aligns with the Park’s ecological values. The Palm Court’s re-purposed military structures now form a cultural campus supporting the development of a fresh approach to establishing an interdisciplinary, public art program.
There are always amazing galleries and exhibitions popping up at the Palm Court Arts Complex, so don’t miss out! For a full list of upcoming exhibitions click here
