If you’re looking for fun events while visiting Orange County, then the Honda Center is a great place to start.
The Honda Center (sometimes known as The Pond) is an indoor arena located in Anaheim, California. It is about 20 minutes drive away from John Wayne Airport for convenient access.
The arena is home to the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League and is a popular venue for the hottest concerts in Anaheim. Some of the artists to have graced the stage include Barbara Streisand, Britney Spears, U2, Jay-Z, Depeche Mode and many more.
Originally named the Anaheim Arena during construction, it was completed in 1993 at a cost of US $123 million.
Arrowhead Water paid $15 million for the naming rights over 10 years in October 1993. This lead to the center being known as the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim for a period.
As the owners of the Mighty Ducks movie franchise, Disney referred to the Arena as the Pond of Anaheim. In October 2006, Honda paid $60 million for the naming rights for over 15 years. This led to locals often referring to it as The Ponda.
The arena opened in June 1993, with a Barry Manilow concert as its first event. In June 2007, the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Ottawa Senators at the Honda Center to win the teams first Stanley Cup championship.
The Anaheim Ducks arena seats over 17,000 for sporting events, and over 8000 people for music and entertainment events. There are also 84 luxury suites in the building.
